News from Richard and Fran Ferris

Hi thanks for the e-mail and update. The economic outlook is not good here also. Our neighbour's son in law who works for the Honda company starts a 4 month lay off from the 1st of February. We have seen many stores close including Woolworths, it was a much loved institution in Britain and will be missed. Enough of the doom and gloom, we are doing ok our weather is colder this year, although it is no where near as cold as the winters you get. We have got used to mild winters in the last decade, this one was a reality check. We hope Craig enjoys Italy, our advise to him is watch his step crossing the road, Italians ignore all stop signals. Scooterists will weave in and out of the pedestrians as they walk on the cross signals. Other than and the prices of things it's a great country.
We are looking forward to getting our campervan on the road in March, we are hoping to go to France in May. We love the country, and have been to all corners in the 30 years since we first visited in 1979. Kindest regards,

Richie and Fran

Happy Anniversary

Happy New Year

Greeting from snowy Buffalo. We hope that everybody holidays were grand and Santa was good to all.I have now posted anything in a while as nobody has send me anything so i thought it was time to get the ball rolling for 2009.Things here are going well everybody is healthy ,and not as wealthy as a year ago(Dow down 35%)my 401k plan is now a 201k but thing seem to be getting better now as we are throwing a couple of trillion dollars at the problem, and we are getting a new president in a few weeks and he will fix everything. The weather has been colder with more snow than normal temps in the 20s for the high teens for the low about 15 inches of snow on the ground more coming every day.we hear that Johnny Galvin was able to get home for a couple of days for the holidays are thoughts and prayers are with him for a speedy recovery.Bob Bogner took some pictures of Hamlin Park where we had the Sunday picnic it looks very pretty covered in snow.Craig Clark is going to be in Italy in February if anybody has any helpful tips for him he is at stretch2008@yahoo.com,Nicki has finished some classes so now she can teach elementary classes not just esl (english as a second language)Sean is working on his project car a 76 vette it is coming along nicely and paula still has her hands full keeping me in line.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Kathleen and Anthony O'Sullivan married 8 years on July 21st may you have a thousand more.

Thank you

Greetings to the World Wide Galvin Clan from the Reunion Committee!

Well, we had our Final Reunion Meeting last night. Our plan was to tally up the last of our expenses, make arrangements to pay them and officially close out our books.

Much to our surprise, we were told that an envelope had been left by "The Killorglin, San Francisco,Florida and Ferris Cousins". The envelope was opened during our meeting. We were all stunned at the extremely generous monetary gift that was enclosed. There was a wide range of emotions and great discussion was had as to how to handle this unexpected windfall.

There is no doubt that there was going to be an outstanding balance left once the final expenses were totaled. We used "the Windfall" to pay off the last of all outstanding expenses. Due to your generosity, our books could be officially closed and certified as closed by our accountant, Mary.

We are also thrilled to report that there was a surplus left after all the bills were paid. The Committee discussed it at great length and we decided that we would use that amount to permanently memorialize our first World Wide Galvin Reunion. We will purchase a brick at Buffalo's Famine Memorial on our Waterfront and have it inscribed as follows:

"World Wide Galvin Reunion
Buffalo, NY
June 2008"

We are completely overwhelmed by your generosity. We want to thank each and everyone one of you. We are so happy that you were able to come and spend some time with us - though all agree that the time was too short.

A poll has been taken, and it's unanimous - the World Wide Galvin Reunion exceeded everyone's expectations. Everyone had a great time and we have the pictures to prove it.

E-mail addresses have been exchanged and promises have been made to stay in touch. Let's see to it that we do.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and for helping to make our Reunion such a great success!

May God continue to bless the Galvin clan . . . and the Kingdom of Kerry!
